Game developer Mainframe Industries has closed a $22.9 million (EUR 20.3 million) Series B round led by Andreessen Horowitz
This is Andreessen Horowitz's second investment in the Helsinki-based cloud gaming studio, having participated in Mainframe's Series A funding round last year
Jonathan Lai, the general partner of Andreessen Horowitz, will join the Mainframe board of directors
The funding includes a $3.4 million from Business Finland
Mainframe, however, didn't disclose valuation in its statement
The company is now focusing on growing bases in Helsinki, Reykjavik and its new studio in Paris
Mainframe's headcount more than doubled during the last year.
ProblemTechnology Infrastructure
"Traditional massively multiplayer online (MMO) games are often limited by platform and require players to be in the same place at the same time. This limits accessibility and social interaction."
Solution
"Mainframe Industries is building a cloud-based gaming platform that allows players to access MMO games from any device, anywhere in the world. This creates a more accessible and immersive gaming experience with rich social and economic networks."
