MBC Group Invests $12 Million in Travel Startup Wego
MBC Group, a leading multimedia company in the MENA region, has invested $12 million in Wego, a travel marketplace with dual headquarters in Singapore and Dubai
The investment will see MBC promote Wego's website and mobile applications across its platforms
Wego, co-founded in 2005 by Craig Hewett and Ross Veitch, launched its travel metasearch website for MENA in April 2012
The company has raised $45.5 million previously, with investors including Tiger Global Management and News Corp
The investment marks MBC Group's first investment in a tech startup, expanding its portfolio beyond its venture arm, MBC Ventures, which has invested in multimedia startups such as Anghami, Kharabeesh, Glambox, and SuperMama.
